Important installation instructions
Tomb Editor version 1.7.2 (released Nov 2024) will now use the skeleton offsets of the LARA_SKIN object for the LARA object. If you are using TE v1.7.2, you do NOT need to copy the LARA object from this outfit package to your wad. If you are using any version of TE prior to 1.7.2, you must follow the instructions below.
This outfit uses customized mesh offsets, meaning the LARA object is arranged differently than the standard TR4 skin. You must use the included LARA object in your WAD for Lara to appear correctly in-game.
If your project has no custom animations, you can simply copy the LARA object in this package to your WAD. However, if you are utilizing custom animations, you must batch export your personal LARA animations and import them over the included LARA object.
To batch export/import animations:
- Open WadTool.
- Load the wad containing your customized LARA object in the Destination panel.
- Expand the Moveables list, then right-click on LARA, then click "Edit animations..."
- The Animation Editor opens. From the menu bar, click "Animations > Batch > Export all..."
- Select a folder to save the animations to. You may want to create a new folder.
- Wait until a message in the bottom right corner of the preview window tells you the animations were exported successfully. Then close the Animation Editor.
- Back in the main WadTool window, load "Tennis_Xxxx.wad2" in the Destination panel.
- Open the LARA object in the Animation Editor, then from the menu bar, click "Animations > Batch > Import..." and select the folder you saved the animations to.
- Wait for the 'successful' message to appear, then close the Animation Editor. Choose "Yes" when WadTool asks if you want to save the changes.
- From the main WadTool window, save your Wad2. Done!
REMINDER: You will need to disable Lara's left pistol. The left pistol is hidden, but still active. Unless it is disabled, two gun flashes and two bullet casings will still appear when firing, and enemies will take damage from two bullets.
Applying recolors
Three color options are available (including the default): purple top/black shorts, peach top/white shorts, or green top/green shorts.
To apply a recolor:
- Open WadTool and load whichever variant of the outfit you've chosen (or your project WAD containing the outfit) as the destination file.
- Click the arrow next to "Moveables" to expand the list. Right-click on LARA_SKIN and choose "Edit meshes..."
- From the Mesh Editor, locate the texturing panel on the right side of the window. "material-Purple.png" (or "material_Purple (no gear).png") should already be highlighted. If not, select it from the dropdown box. Then click the circular arrows icon on the top right.
- Find the recolor you want to apply (e.g. "material-Green.png") and double-click it. (Files are in the respective "GEAR" and "NO GEAR" subfolders)
- WadTool will warn you about making this change. Click "Yes" to continue.
- Click the "OK" button in the bottom right corner of the Mesh Editor to close and save changes.
- From the main WadTool window, save your Wad2.
NOTE: After clicking yes, you may notice the textures in mesh preview window have changed, but the image file in the texturing panel stays the same. Don't worry, the texture file has updated - this is a WadTool glitch. Reopening the Mesh Editor will show the updated texture file.
Author's notes
Version 2.2 is an even smaller update than the last. Instead of being a solid color, the inside of the holster is now modeled and textured. Lara's belt is now double sided, allowing the player to see the back of the belt at certain angles rather than disappearing. Lara's hairtie at the base of her head is now rounder and less blocky, and the shape of the braid itself is rounder and less prone to "twiching" compared to before. To further prevent twitching, use these values in the Lara's Ponytail Position Changer patch: X=0, Y=-4, Z=-44.
------
Version 2.1 is a small update with a few quality improvements primarily for Lara's head. Lara's fringe (or bangs) is now smoother in the braid version, and the disappearing faces on both heads is now fixed. I've added a shotgun (in TR3 style), with more weapons to come in the future. If you have any weapon requests, please message me!
------
Version 2 is a more useful package now with the included flare/crowbar/torch anims. I think the texture upscaling has gone a long way in improving the overall look of the outfit. It's still somewhere between old school and high quality, but now there's a much better match in fidelity between Lara's head and her body.
I still haven't included additional weapons beyond Lara's pistol because I'm not sure what to include. I've considered making revamped version of the TR4 inventory weapons like I've done with the pistol, but I'm lukewarm on the idea. If there's any specific weapons you'd like to use with this outfit, contact me with your suggestions.
------
Happy Easter! This is my first time participating in the Aspidetr Easter Time event. I thought this light, springtime-esque outfit for Lara would be fitting for the occasion. :)
This package is rather bare bones and only includes a pistol for weapons/secondary hands. In the future I will add the other typical weapons and secondary hands, such as flare hand, crowbar hand, etc. Keep your eyes on TRSearch for an expanded release.
I'm very excited to finally release this head mesh to the community! Lara's face texture is entirely hand painted by myself from scratch. The mesh started with the original TR2 head and was slowly sculpted many times over before reaching this look. Is it finally done? Probably not, I'm sure I will continue to make tweaks as time goes on. Every time I think I'm "done" I find something new to change. Anyway, I'm really happy with how this new face for Lara turned out, and I hope others enjoy it as well. I think it strikes a good balance of classic and familiar while also being modern and fresh. Expect to see more new outfit with this head in the future!
