Emerald Evil by Trinity
Description
This is a freakish green mutant. If you find the picture confusing then tell me and I'll change it. ;) I made the textures for this monster. And a HUGE thanks to Essgee! Thank you so much Essgee!!!!! :)

Nice to see this custom texture job of the TR1 Mummy Mutant. Originality is limited to the custom textures and these have been chosen and applied well. Thanks for the nice acknowledgements too. Its kind of hard to review this one objectively as I am of course very close to this enemy. I can say pretty confidently though that the enemy does work properly, and hope that now the original beast has been unleashed that it will spawn offspring like this one. Alas, it would be nice to see a review or two for the originals that I recreated (insert not too subtle hint LOL). So what you get here is a custom texture job using some nice detailed green and brown textures and high detail eyes. The green textures give the beast a sort of leathery, warty appearance which looks effective. I can see this thing coming out of a steamy swamp somewhere. These textures make the enemy perhaps useable in jungle or mossy style levels, but could also be suited to Tomb or Castle style levels. Although there is a custom die animation, this was part of the original that I did so I shall count it here. Nice adaptation.

originality: retextured objects are not of high originality, but a well retextured ( not just with chandged colours) enemy is nice, too and this one looks with it's new textures like a new enemy, just the animations and it's shape remind of an Atlantean quality: Esgee made the mutant work well, the original meshes have no bugs and your textures are really nice. usability: because of it's new color it can be used in more different levels than the original one. It can be used also as a new race of Atlanteans Natla might have created. textures: they are all new, it's not just a color change. And with the new textures it don't remind of the original enemy.

Originality: I'd say the 10 is for sure, nothing like that was ever out before. Quality: Also a 10 as I couldnt find a bug besides the projectiles not hitting, but I aint know if that was intended like that. Useable:a 9 for beeing useable in mutant,horror,templeguardian,lab/base levels and even gremlinlevels (reminded me somehow of a tranformed gremlin). The Textures looked great, but the somehow reminded me of the TR1 ones recolored, but they still looked good ;) Custom Meshes: great, even if they seemed standart again, they fit, only bad point about it is,that they are a little lowpoly,so a 9,5,but we aint 0,5-grades,so a 10 ;) Animations: a 10,I couldnt find a bug,and that animations made the thing look ugly and scary in a good way ! I recommend them to everyone building a Horror Level,or at least something dark with mutants !

What a fabulous beast this is! I used it in The Imprisoned Spirits to great effect. It has one drawback in that it can't be killed with pistols yet one single shotgun blast will take it down. So in The Imprisoned Spirits, when you first meet it, you only have pistols, which makes the meeting that much more dramatic. Later in the level I had to use 2 together as by then Lara had a shotgun. Thing is, once players realise how easy it is to kill with a shotgun, they quickly lose their fear of it so careful placement is needed.

Thanks for the reveiw! :) The textures are from Half life1 I belive and then others made by me. So they are not TR1 recolored. ;)
